Tim is the managing shareholder of Byers Accountancy Corporation.  He has never been a stranger to hard work.  In an industry that never tires, Tim’s dedicated energies are put to good use.  Under his direction, the firm has increased in size and significantly expanded its service offerings. He recognizes that success depends on the strength of his company’s services.  But he also understands that an integral part of success is attracting and retaining good people.

Tim has said, "We believe we have a proven track record in this area.  In short, we put the strategies we advocate for our clients into practice for ourselves.  We think strategically and act competitively".

Having worked in private industry, including international trade, construction and manufacturing, Tim has a first-hand understanding of both corporate structure and small business challenges. While earning his CPA certificate, Tim worked as a controller for a Fortune 500 Company. As a result of his experience, Tim understands the nuances of industry and can better assist his clients to realize the full potential of their endeavors.  His network extends across many industries, positioning him well to navigate more easily on behalf of his clients’ varied interests.  Tim focuses on providing audit, taxation and advisory services to clients in a variety of industries.  Tim provides tax preparation, consulting and auditing services. Specifically, he can assist clients in developing strategic business plans and financial projections for revenue streams that contribute to growth strategies.  He also assists in operational consulting, and in structuring exit and succession plans.  Tim assists his clients to better understand the financial aspects, and thereby, control their operations by providing budgeting and forecasting services, internal control assessments, financial planning and managing assets.  He is the firm’s nonprofit practice leader with expertise in Yellowbook, Circular OMB A-133 and uniform single financial statement audits as well as retirement plan audits.

Tim graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1987 with a degree in Agricultural Economics.  He earned his Masters in Business Administration from California State University, Fresno in 1998 and was awarded his CPA certificate in 2006.  His participation in local organizations reflects his strong belief in being a good steward of his community.  In his spare time he enjoys soccer and tennis—sports that have taught him to be aware of his surroundings and to find trajectories to create opportunities—all while on the move, and that has helped his overall game.


Shirley is the go to staff person for clients, local CPA’s and attorneys for all matters related to Tax and Estate Planning.  This designation comes from Shirley’s extensive knowledge related to tax law and Estate Planning.  Through the years, Shirley has developed an appreciation of the challenges posed by both trustees and beneficiaries and is positioned well to navigate through the necessary responsibilities.  Shirley has a long history with the delicate nature of these transactions and tailors her approach to meet the needs of her clients.  Shirley has a head for details and an uncanny ability to pull together financial information in a way that builds value for her clients.  It is a testament to her hard work and her capacity to recall details and intricacies of tax law, that her clients have become generational through the years.

Shirley graduated summa cum laude from California State University Fresno with her Accounting degree and has been a practicing CPA since 1993. Shirley completed the Estate Planning Certificate Program from the National Estate Planning Council in 2000 and served for nine years as a board member and then president for the Fresno Estate Planning Council.  Shirley stays active in industry trade organizations so that she can keep abreast of changing developments and apply the knowledge gained to our clients’ advantage.  Shirley's expertise is in preparing individual and fiduciary income tax returns and in estate planning and estate tax.

MAE W FONG, Enrolled Agent

Mae's professional experience includes preparation of income tax returns for all types of entities, individual, corporate and partnerships. Mae can assist clients with property tax, sales tax, bookkeeping and other “write-up" services.  In addition, she oversees payroll tax returns.  Her history in the industry has allowed her to become highly technical with tax law.  As a result, Mae is an excellent problem solver.  Her detail-oriented approach and “to the point” communication skills reflect her ability to organize and process returns in a highly efficient manner.  Mae combines her technical expertise with listening skills to generate results.  Her streamlined, efficient approach to corporate and partnership tax preparation lends itself to client savings and customer loyalty.  Her client base has been steadfast for three decades!

Mae has been in the public accounting profession in Fresno continuously since 1980, after graduating from California State University, Fresno.  She became an Enrolled Agent in 1993.


Rochelle is a progressive thinker with a knack for quickly gaining an overall understanding of clients’ potential financial performance and economic prospects for the future.  As an expert in business tax credits and incentives, especially enterprise zone tax credits, she is a key resource to minimize clients’ tax liability.  Rochelle provides consulting and part-time controller services for clients. Reflective of her ability to multi-task well, she has served as controller for multiple entities at one time.  Her experience in private industry underlines her ability to deliver prompt, timely and accurate information to clients.  Having started her career in an entrepreneurial business, Rochelle understands the challenges a business can face and is in a unique position to use her experience to help her clients develop and grow their business.  Rochelle works closely with clients to resolve business problems and to propose solutions, beginning with internal control structure and the design of processes to accomplish identifiable business objectives.  Her proactive approach and ability to understand her client’s objectives instill client confidence while mapping out a very practical strategy to accomplish identifiable goals.

Rochelle is skilled in computerized accounting set up and daily application, with extensive experience in Quick Books.  She has mastered client office paperwork flow, organization and record keeping.  She is demonstrating her versatility by participating in audit engagements, financial statement preparation, tax return assignments and business consultant responsibilities.


Elizabeth M. Wu, CPA

Lizz is a graduate of California State University, Fresno. She has been a licensed CPA since 2005. Lizz has individual and nonprofit tax preparation experience. Additionally, she has experience in Governmental and nonprofit auditing. In her spare time, Lizz enjoys hiking nearby trails, cycling, and kickboxing.
